DAN has developed and launched this oxygen provider program in 1991 to provide divers with this important training, and this is now the fastest growing and most respected oxygen program for divers, worldwide. This program has been carefully designed to conform to local resuscitation and oxygen administration protocols, and the certification is well recognised throughout the world.
This program is suitable for people of all levels, from novice to instructor. The course consists of two elements of competency: Resuscitation and Oxygen Provider, each with a nominal duration of 4 hours.
Participant will be trained in oxygen first aid
procedures that should enable one to assist an injured or ill diver until medical aid is
accessed. Topics covered include: basic anatomy and
physiology, recognition and management of a
dive accident, benefits of oxygen provision,
hazards, precautions and safety procedures, oxygen equipment including to understand when, how, and why to use the demand valve and mask, non-rebreather mask, and resuscitation mask, and
oxygen provision to both responsive and unresponsive victims.
Participant must be 14 years or older. In addition, participant must have completed the Resuscitation element, hold a current CPR certificate, or must have been assessed as “Competent” in CPR by the DAN Instructor.
This course includes: 4, or 8 hours of theory lecture and skills training, registration, certification with lamination, use of training aids and consumables (Laerdal manikin, DAN oxygen unit...), personal DAN student handbook, personal non-rebreather mask and personal Laerdal pocket mask.
