This basic program describes the
skills and knowledge required to recognise
and respond to life threatening
emergencies using basic life support
measures only. It covers some basic procedures that should enable participant to assist an injured or ill person until medical aid is accessed.
Topics covered include: assessment and safety, external bleeding, chest pain, respiratory
emergencies, shock and severe allergic
reaction, management of the unconscious victim, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), cross infection, basic orientation to first aid in the workplace, first aid kits and moving of injured persons. Participant will participate in both theory and practical sessions, during which participant's skills will be assessed.
After the competent completion of all of the required skills, participant will receive a Statement of Attainment from DAN when the registration procedures have been completed. The program is accredited by State and National government recognition authorities under National Training Recognition Scheme.
This course includes: 6 hours of theory lecture and skills training, registration, certification with lamination, use of training aids and consumables (Laerdal manikin, gloves...), personal DAN student handbook, personal Laerdal pocket mask, personal triangular and crepe bandages.
